Therapists

Matthew Smith
PT, DPT, Cert MDT, OCS

Matt's approach to physical therapy mirrors his approach to life: Matt is a teacher. He loves learning. And he loves sharing his knowledge with others.

After earning his Bachelor degree from Albertson College of Idaho in Caldwell, Idaho, he pursued his Doctorate of Physical Therapy at The University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington, where he met the love of his life, Samantha. Between his studies he discovered SCUBA diving and soon became a certified SCUBA Diving Instructor. To counterbalance this warm weather sport he also volunteered during the winter as a ski instructor for a program called Ski-for-All, teaching kids with disabilities how to downhill ski. When looking for a place to call home Matt was drawn back to Idaho. Matt joined the RehabAuthority team, and he and Samantha have made Homedale their home and a place to raise their 2 beautiful children, Cali and Carsten.

Matt’s love for learning and teaching did not stay in Washington. Since joining the RehabAuthority team Matt has pursued multiple certifications starting in 2008 with a certification in Manual physical therapy. He proceeded to earn his board certification in orthopedic physical therapy in 2009, and finally earned his Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy certification from the McKenzie Institute in 2009. He continues to grow in knowledge as he shares what he as learned both as the coordinator for continuing education for RehabAuthority as well as instructing for the International Spine and Pain Institute.

Matt loves the Idaho outdoor life with hiking, fly fishing, skiing, SCUBA diving, horseback riding as well as participating and instructing in martial arts. But his professional passion comes from treating his patients with the highest quality of care so that they can experience the difference.

Jared Simonson
PT, DPT

Jared was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah and is a proud member of Cyprus High School’s graduating class of 1995. After graduating from Idaho State University with his Bachelors of Arts in History in 2008 he went on to graduate school in the Chicago area. In 2011 Jared completed school and graduated as a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science.

Throughout physical therapy school he enjoyed the opportunity of working in a variety of different types of clinics ranging from a small private practice, to the Great Lakes Naval Base, to an in-patient skilled nursing facility. He credits having the chance to work with numerous patients and a variety of diagnosis as having prepared him for a promising career.

Jared began working in the outpatient setting with RehabAuthority in the summer of 2011 in Kuna, Idaho prior to being transferred to the company’s newest clinic in Caldwell, Idaho.

Athletics, fitness, and nutrition have long since been a fixture in Jared’s life. As a former high school and collegiate athlete and high school football coach he has always enjoyed working with athletes and has a continued interest in sports medicine. As a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) he is able to offer a unique and special set of skills to each of his patients. Also, as a member of the RehabAuthority team he is excited to have joined a group of highly skilled physical therapists in treating the cervical and lumbar spine.

When out of the clinic Jared’s greatest joy comes from spending time with his wonderful wife Chrisanna and his amazing daughter Paisley.

Hilary O'Bannon
PT, DPT

You could say that Hilary is a traveler. She has lived near the Pacific Ocean and near the waters of the Atlantic, driven cross country, and explored Europe. She was born in Vallejo, California and moved to Colorado at the beginning of high school. After graduating from Fruita Monument High School in 2003 she made the campus of the University of Northern Colorado her home for almost 4 years. Hilary wanted to spend a semester away from home so she applied and was accepted to an exchange program to attend college in Providence, Rhode Island. After majoring in sport and exercise science and completing an internship at the Veterans Hospital Physical Therapy department she was led to chose a career in physical therapy because of her love of working with people and the enjoyment of helping them regain their health and strength.

Hilary went on to attend physical therapy school at the University of Utah, GO UTES! She has always been able to accomplish her goals, so graduating with her doctor of physical therapy degree three years later in 2010 was not a surprise to her family. After seven continuous years of school she is very excited to start her career as a physical therapist in Homedale, Idaho. She looks forward to continuing her love of learning while sharing her knowledge and expertise helping others to improve their function and quality of life.

When Hilary is not studying the latest therapy techniques or working at the job she loves, you will find her at the gym working out, on the tennis court, spending time with family and friends, or off exploring different cities and cultures.
